Artificial colored lights attack the eyes as a wall of perfume from the third shop up invades the nose. A sea of bodies clouds the sight until people scramble and fight their way through, reaching for the bargains lining each shelf. Gliding stairs carry crowds between floors while elevators do the heavy lifting. Hundreds of voices drown out any story worth hearing as people wander and get lost in a place they’ve been to a thousand times over. Only when they return to the outside world can their senses right themselves, having time to recover from the endless barrage of light, movement, and noise.
