Thunderstorm Lullaby

“Don’t worry, I’ll show you how

to overcome your fears,

No more worries, no more tears.

They’ll have to go through me,

if they mean to ruin your dream.

I’ll hold you close, keep you warm

as we listen to the storm.

I’ll be keeping fears at bay

As I wipe your tears away.

Curled up in your arms as one,

we’ll wait for the rising sun.

Until then I’ll hold you close,

keep you warm, as we wait out

tonight’s storm. Don’t you worry,

I’ll show you how. You needn’t

be so frightened now.”

I am printing this poem and plan to share it with my children during storms and share it with friends during rocky times in their lives. It is a wonderful encapsulation of comfort in stormy times.
